It’s a wrap for Dad & Us, the event that celebrated fathers and families on 2nd June 2018. Keeping to our philosophy of creating community involvement programmes that are simpler, smaller, and more meaningful, Dad & Us, aimed to bring different age groups together through interactive art, play, fitness, and through food. Each of our events promotes giving back to the community as well, and this event supported the migrant workers (through TWC2) and animals (through ACRES and Animal SOS).
June is special for fathers, so this event’s theme was dedicated to them. We would like to thank Families for Life andDads for Lifefor endorsing the event, and huge thanks to our vendors, venue partner, supporters and partcipants for being part of our effort to bring families and comunities together.
We conceptualise and manage meaningful, interactive events to suit client’s requirements too. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org know more about bringing this concept to your organisation.

The act of ‘giving back’ is not only advocated by religions, philosophers and philanthropists, but even scientists and psychologists confirm that giving back is beneficial for people on both sides of the act.
Benefits of giving back
Research shows that people who have a purpose in life sleep better. A purpose outside yourself is good not only for your mental health, but also for your physical health.
Giving back or volunteering in anyway, increases wellbeing and enhances self-esteem. In simple words, it has a feel-good factor and many people report a “high” from volunteering that is comparable to the “high” you get from exercising.
Volunteering or giving back can help fight depression.
Giving back to the community increases the feeling of belongingness and makes people more empathetic and inclusive. They understand others better.
Giving back helps you to grow as a person and it feels good to be able to make a difference.
Giving back as a family, allows parents to lead by example and inculcates in the kids, the values like gratefulness, social responsibilities, and an appreciation of each other.
Organisations that give back to the community are often perceived as companies that care, and are looked upon as the ‘Employer of Choice.’
Giving back allows you to repay the kindness that you may have received from society and strangers at any point of your life.

Meanwhile, here are some fun facts on Father’s Day.
Experts believe the word “dad” dates back to the 16 century.
Neckties are the most popular gift for Father’s Day
In Australia, the first Sunday of September is observed as Father’s Day, while Finnish people celebrate the holiday on the second Sunday of November. In Thailand, Father’s Day is observed on Dec. 5.
Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, is credited with starting Father’s Day after hearing a sermon on Mother’s Day. Dodd wanted to honour her father William Jackson Smart, a widower who raised six children on his own.
Our society has been marked by the digital revolution, and this has resulted in many sociocultural changes. The prime one is in the way we interact with each other. There is an increased focus on individual and a decline in the way we interact as a community. However, individuation does not mean isolation, and we still benefit immensely when we share resources, ideas, and a meaningful bond. Community events have always played an important role in bringing people together, however, in the current times, their benefits have increased manifolds.
Benefits of Events
1) For the community: Community events and festivals are important for the good health of the communities. They assist in developing an understanding of each other and increase the spirit of camaraderie. Community events also help in developing a shared identity. In general, community and family events promote a society that is pro-family, benevolent, and inclusive.
2) For the Individuals: Events provide great opportunities to meet like-minded people, to network face-to-face, and to get involved in the community. Events are great mood uplifters and provide a good old fashioned way of having fun. Meaningful events also provide opportunities to volunteer, to gain skills or knowledge, and to meet mentors in the neighbourhood.
3) For the organisations: According to The Content Marketing Institute’s 2016 Benchmarks, Budgets, and Trends, 75% of B2B marketers listed “in-person events” as their top marketing tactic, above even blogging and social media. This is no surprise, as events provide brand exposure, increase foot traffic and sales, help in reaching a targeted audience, gives a chance to interact with customers, and help to boost local SEO campaign. An event is also a perfect way for organisations to launch a corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative or incorporate socially responsible practices.
At Little Events, we are committed to bringing families and communities together through meaningful events. Contact us to know more.
